Looking to have a traditional wedding in Bali?
A Puri Wedding
is a very special, highly spiritual experience which will leave
you with feelings and memories which will lift you in an amazing
way and will certainly, last a lifetime!
Before considering
holding your wedding ceremony and celebration in a Balinese Puri
it is important for you to know and understand exactly what a
Puri is and just what a wedding in a Puri can offer you.
To explain
: A Puri is the home of a Balinese nobleman and his
court, always auspiciously situated within the town or village
in which it is located. Each Puri has
dimensions which have been carefully determined according to the
owners' caste and many of the buildings found within the Puri
serve a particular purpose and play an important role in family
rites of passage - including marriage!
We receive many
questions about Bali traditional weddings, Bali ethnic
weddings and Bali cultural weddings. Some
couples wish simply to use a genuinely Balinese
environment as the theme and backdrop for their
wedding whilst others have the wish to immerse
themselves deeply in the Balinese culture by
experiencing first hand many of the different
aspects involved in a Balinese wedding ceremony.
This site has been developed especially for
couples seeking much more than the beach or
garden type wedding ceremony in Bali.
It is particularly
for those interested in the culture and custom of the island and
it's people, for those who wish to return home filled with
memories of the passion and joy such celebration brings on
this beautiful island by having a traditional
wedding in Bali.
We must also
explain that it is not possible for any couple who are not
genuinely of the Balinese Hindu faith to be married in the
Balinese Hindu way.
You can however,
celebrate your traditional Bali wedding with whatever ceremony type you select ie: Legal, Christian religious only, Balinese blessing or Commitment
within a genuine Balinese Puri surrounded by the high caste
Balinese family who lives there and a few or many of the local
Balinese of the village, who will happily give of themselves in
many ways; decorating the wedding pavilion, preparing ceremonial
costumes, preparing offerings, providing a Balinese procession,
playing traditional music and performing various dances.
Just how much involvement and how many are
involved depends on which package you
choose for your wedding day.
